Ohio’s current TechCred Program application period for businesses opened January 3, 2023, and closes January 31, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.
TechCred provides Ohio businesses with the opportunity to receive reimbursement for supplying employees with training that increases, or “upskills”, their expertise and qualifications in technology-based areas. According to the TechCred website, eligible credentials must be industry-recognized, technology focused, and short-term (less than 12 months, 900 clock hours, or 30 credit hours). Businesses can be reimbursed up to $2,000 per credential, with a $30,000 cap per business during each funding round.
To receive reimbursement, training programs and credentials must be approved by the program. The TechCred website provides a list of pre-approved credentials, selected by the Technology Review of Educational Credentials (TECHREC) panel of experts and approved by the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Employers can also request that credentials be added to the eligible list when submitting an application.
