How can your nonprofit close funding gaps between revenue and operating expenses? There are many ways to build revenue for a nonprofit, and it can sometimes feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over again. When you find yourself in a fundraising rut, it’s time to think about new strategies!
Take the opportunity to learn from experts how to increase funding through multiple channels—from individual donors to corporations and foundations to receiving gifts such as charitable bequests. HW&Co. is sponsoring a free* panel discussion on fundraising strategies followed by a happy hour. You can register by following the links at the end of this article.
In the meantime, here are some points to consider:
Set bold but realistic goals. You’ll need a well-thought-out budget that includes your estimated expenses as well as the net amount you want to raise. Using previous fundraising events as a guide, set your financial objective at a realistic number.
Make giving easy! It may sound obvious, but you need to provide multiple options when asking donors to contribute. For example, providing text and online giving, in addition to more traditional methods, allows each donor to give in the way that is most convenient for them. The last thing you want is an onerous process that makes it a hassle to donate.
Use technology. Along these same lines, use technology to your advantage! Advertise your fundraising event on your website and social media, as well as through an email campaign via your customer relationship management (CRM) system.
Foster personal connections. Donors want to feel a connection with those receiving their giving. Emphasize your passion for helping specific people.
Target sponsors. Good sponsors are critical. Not only can they help defray expenses with donations of goods and services, but they can also raise your nonprofit’s profile by introducing your name to a new audience.
