The Ohio Medicaid Enterprise System (OMES) is the modernized replacement of most functionalities in the Medicaid Information Technology System (MITS). On October 1, 2022, your access to MITS will no longer be available–you will have to log into the new Provider Network Management Module (PNM) in order to complete anything you currently do through MITS.
Anyone in your facility who uses MITS to review correspondence, check eligibility, submit claims, and more in the system will need to have their own unique state identifier, referred to as an OH|ID, in order to access PNM as well as other OMES modules. The OH|ID is separate from your existing MITS sign-on. If you do not already have an OH|ID, you will need to create this either during the pre-registration period from August 15 to September 23 or register on or after October 1. Please review the following action items to be sure you are prepared for PNM implementation.
Determine who the Provider Administrator will be in advance:
The Department of Medicaid (ODM) allows only one Provider Administrator per National Provider Identifier (NPI) or Medicaid provider number. Although, the same Administrator can be assigned to multiple NPI’s within a chain organization. Therefore, you need to determine who in the facility who should register the as the Provider Administrator and instruct all others to register as a Provider Agent. It may also be a good idea to have the username for the Administrator role be generic related to the facility, rather than the person’s name in case of change in personnel since we are assuming you will be able to transfer the Administrator role similar to MITS.
Create OH|ID:
For anyone who uses MITS and doesn’t have an OH|ID, please use the steps below:
- Go to: Log In | OH|ID | Ohio’s State Digital Identity Standard
- Fill in fields to create an account.
- You will get an email confirmation after you have registered
- Once you have logged in, fill in the required fields with the correct security information, and correct any error messages that appear if you complete the security questions unsuccessfully.
Pre-register for PNM by Friday September 23:
We recommend you pre-register for PNM during the pre-registration period which is open now through Friday, September 23. After Friday, you will not be able to register again until October 1 and may encounter system delays. The user account options to register are either Provider Administrator or Provider Agent. If you don’t have an individual OH|ID when you pre-register, the PNM module will redirect you back to the OH|ID account site.
Provider Administrator links existing providers to PNM:
Once the account is created, if you are a Provider Administrator, follow the steps to link your existing providers to PNM by entering identifying information (Medicaid or Tax ID, NPI).
Be prepared for Provider Administrator to assign roles (after go live on October 1):
When PNM goes live on October 1, the Provider Administrator will be able to assign Provider Agents their specific roles for a particular NPI. As already noted, you can only have ONE Administrator per provider and they will assign roles to Agents. Think about who your Provider Agents will be (staff, vendors, billing services who access MITS). It may be easiest to start a list of potential agents, request they provide you with their OH|ID when they create one and then determine the roles they need to have assigned so that when the system goes live on October 1, the process of assigning access is much easier for the Provider Administrator.
