The state of Ohio will have its annual, back-to-school sales tax holiday from Friday, August 6th, 2021 at 12:00am until Sunday, August 8th, 2021 at 11:59 pm.
The sales tax exemption includes online orders placed, and accepted by the retailer, during this window of time. But note, for online sales, the seller’s location determines the time zone for the exemption purposes.
During this holiday, the following items are exempt from sales tax:
- An item of clothing priced at $75 or less
- School supplies each priced at $20 or less, and
- An item of school instructional material (textbooks, reference materials, etc.) priced at $20 or less.
Items used in a trade or business are not exempt under this sales tax holiday.
