From December 2–6, 2024, the IRS, state tax agencies, and the tax professional community are teaming up for the 9th annual National Tax Security Awareness Week. The week is all about helping taxpayers and professionals safeguard sensitive data against identity theft and tax scams as both the holidays and tax season approaches.

IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel highlights the urgency: “Scammers are getting smarter, and it’s up to all of us—taxpayers and professionals alike—to keep our personal and financial data safe.”  With half of retailers feeling exposed, the risks are more serious than ever.
