The AICPA Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC) has recently issued another working draft for health care entities relating to accounting issues regarding the implementation of FASB’s new revenue recognition standard (Accounting Standards Update (ASU) No. 2014-09, Revenue from Contracts with Customers (Topic 606)). FinREC is requesting feedback on this and the other industry working drafts. The working draft for health care entities relates specifically to revenue earned under arrangements with government programs (i.e. Medicare or Medicaid programs) and other third parties (i.e. an insurer or managed care company). These Task Forces are responsible for developing revenue recognition implementation issues for various industries.
